I have just had a call from the nice English person at EE. She confirms that there is a fault on the line and has increased my download by 200% as a temporary measure whilst it is sorted by BT. She has also worked wonders for my Packet Loss, Ping and Jitter. I realise our relationship is still in the early stages but, if things go well and our routers are compatible, I will probably ask her to move in with me.
I am sure the recent success was due to a "wheels within wheels" clandestine operation carried out by a friend I met through this site.
