R.I.P. Sir Patrick Moore

Postby alanbakewell » 09 Dec 2012, 14:49

It's with more than a tinge of sadness that I read about the death of Sir Patrick Moore.

He was, of course, one of Great Britain's eccentrics. His fame was mostly for Astronomy and his programme "The Sky at Night".
However, I remember his great skill on the Xylophone.
Who will follow in his footsteps? Brian May perhaps?

R.I.P. Sir Patrick. Bless you for bringing your style of entertainment to us.

Alan.
To know and have known the love of a little dog is a truly wonderful thing.

Very sad news.

I'm off to bed now, but will put the headphones on and listen to the Planets Suite as a tribute to both his profession and his love of music.

A sad loss - I remember Ronnie Barker's brilliant impression of him!

He met the first man to make a powered flight (Orville Wright), the first man in space (Yuri Gagarin) and the first man on the moon (Neil Armstrong). All in one lifetime.
