Has anyone any experience of these amps for home/small gig use? This model is rated at 40W and has 12" speaker.
Looking for a lightweight amp with good tone for ^0s music with a few Shads instros!

I've used a Mustang III at jams (it doesn't belong to me).

A very versatile amp, loaded with FX and with modelling and tone/volume/crunch setting pre-sets. Quite well provided with clean headroom too (there's no excuse for SS amps running out of clean volume these days, since amplification power is so cheap).

I prefer a valve amp (usually a Fender Deluxe or Kelly amp-head), but the Fender Mustang amps are perfectly acceptable.

Thanks Jim

I have an AC30 and Peavey Encore valve amps but they are getting a bit heavy these days to get in and out of the car!

A friend of mine bought that very Mustang model a few months ago, & is very pleased with it. He is very experienced with lots of amps, so knows what is a good or bad amp. He says it is relatively lightweight, which means a lot to blokes of a certain age group, & it has so many digital options for modelling amps & effects. It is also very good value for money, or cheap, if you prefer. Let's be frank about it; it is a budget amp at those prices, so there may be compromises in the quality of some of the components inside, & the build quality. I guess it's another 'Made in China' product, but from what I know of the quality of the latest Squier guitar & bass ranges, it seems that the Chinese have made excellent progress in quality control over the past 3-4 years.

Although the Mustang amp will have some very good digital effects in it's arsenal, I doubt very much whether it will have the ability to reproduce many of the specific echoes properly for Shads instrumentals. I believe it has a pretty good amp simulation for the Vox AC30, but to get the tripping echoes you will have to have a seperate echo unit. You will be able to see the options as to which is the best unit at various price ranges in the various threads on this site.
