Once upon a time a Hofner Congress and an Eko acoustic guitar were locked in a cupboard together. :D :D :D

The tailpiece is not a Congress part, the pick-up looks like one from a Colorama except its not rectangular.

It looks like either an early-mid-fifties Framus or a Hopf from the same era.

The body looks like a Hofner 457 or 458 ( '57 or early '58 version because there's no control panel). The pickup and bridge are consistent with a 457 but the pickguard and tailpiece are from some other planet.

The neck looks like it's from another model altogether. The full width fret markers appeared on some Hofners in the early '50s and reappeared in the mid '60s. The headstock looks like it's off a President -- but reversed!

Weird. Where did you get it?

I've just had another look at this and I think it started life as a Hofner 455 and the pickup, pickguard and tailpiece have been added.

What a great selection of skiffle guitars- you could strum 'Don't You Rock Me Daddio' until the cows come home...

Whatever some of the designers were smoking, it was good stuff... :D
