Amazing value - and food for thought

Last Friday I called in at our local music shop 'Richtone Music' and saw the new 'Vintage Modified' guitars from Squier. I didn't think much about them until I picked one up and tried it, in this case a white Jaguar with a tortoiseshell coloured pickguard. I was amazed at the quality in the finish, sound, playability - everything about it . . . £245.00 . . . :) As I had always fancied owning a Fender Jaguar, but never wanting to pay the high cost for one, it had to come home with me and I have played it every day and still can't find fault with it, one you get the hang of the controls there are some great sounds in there.
The sobering thought is that back in 1962 when mum & dad bought me my Vox Duotone for £29gns - the £245.00 that I paid for this guitar equalled a mere £13.05 ! :o

I wish you'd stop doing this, I'm trying to thin down my collection. ;)

Did you try any of the others, such as the Jazzmaster?

I didn't Noel, as I already have a Fender Jazzmaster and it was the Jaguar that intrigued me, which I made a bee-line for. The Jazzmaster is the same price.8-)

I know Alan, but on the up side you can get your money back for the expensive stuff and use one of these at a tiny fraction of the cost of the USA guitars. Last year I made a living with a £175 Squier Classic Player Strat for a couple of Months before selling it on. These guitars play and sound right, as well as keeping in tune, if someone was to damage one or should it be stolen, it's not too much of a wrench on the wallet either. Makes sense to me.

By the way , the equivalent Strat is the Squier Classic Vibe and I didn't need to change the bridge or the pickups . . . .

Last December I brought a Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster (3 tone sunburst with tortoiseshell of course) back from the US.
It had a small ding and I picked it up for $US 150. Great build, interesting sounds, especially from the middle position,
and IMHO, exceptional value for money!
Cheers,
JB

Yes, a friend from the US just wrote, quite excited about the series. With previously no plans for yet another guitar, he ended up with a sonic blue Jaguar. He's happy as can be. Stay away!
