Hi... does anyone have one of these amps , either the 15 or 30 model, your opinions would be most grateful, I am torn between whether to buy one of these, or go for the
classic series-- all valve amp, Ive had such bad luck in the past with valve amps breaking down, and the costly repairs, so my thoughts were to try the VR models,I know they have a valve in the pre-amp, but I'am not too worried with that small amount of possible failure
Cheers
Colin

Hi colin,i have the AC15vr which is a great amp tho it is a bit trebley so i run thru my zoom & tweak the EQ from there.
I`ve gigged the amp for about 18 months with no probs.I play rhythm, there`s plenty of volume, i just mic up for the bigger venues.Hope this helps? steve.

Hi Colin,
I've got an AC30VR. It's a great amp and I can carry it with one hand! The only problem I've come across with it is that it runs out of steam for gigging- not a problem if you're miked up, but I've done a couple without, and it did struggle a bit. Either that, or I'm going deaf!
The speakers, although Vox badged, are actually Celestion 70/80s. They do the job, but they are Celestion's 'budget' speakers. What I've done is to replace the ones in my amp with Celestion Vintage 30s which make a world of difference. The amp is much more responsive tonally, more 'Vox-y' and MUCH louder, as the Vintage 30s have a sensitivity of 100dB as opposed to the 98dB of the others. It doesn't sound a lot, but an increase of 3dB would give about twice the volume. A worthwhile upgrade, if you're considering one of these amps.
Cheers,
Simon
