I was thinking of fitting a jackplug connection to my Valvetronix VT 15 amp. I want to connect it to my mixing desk without having to mic it up if this is feasable?. Can anyone help me with this query in respect of, where to take the connection from and if it'll give me the full range of sounds that I'm getting from the amp the way it is at the moment. I dont want to have to go get a mic for it if there is a better/easier way of doing it.

The VT 30 has one but not the 15.

It does have a headphone input, I was'nt sure if this would give out the full signal to the mixer. I did wonder about taking the wires to the speaker and connecting them via an input fitting and connecting them to a guitar lead into the mixer
As you've probably guessed, I'm not well up on these matters

As you've probably guessed, I'm not well up on these matters

Use the phone jack, after getting the suitable cord :

PHONES jack
Use this jack if you want to output directly to a mixer or recording device, or when you want to use headphones. The signal that is output from this jack is taken from directly before the Valve Reactor power amp, and the cabinet response of the guitar amp will be applied to it.
NOTE: If you connect this jack, no sound will be output from the internal speaker.

Never forget to read the User's manual !

Thanks D. I've got loads of connectors that will do for the inputs, I'll give it a try.
I'm afraid I'm the typical male. Only read the manual when all else fails

What you will lose is that part of the overall sound that is supplied by the speaker (after all, if the speaker didn't matter, why do people upgrade their speakers to get a better sound?)

Also remember that if you use the headphone socket, you cut off the internal speaker so you won't be able to use the amp to monitor the guitar's sound.

Making a connection to the speaker terminals retains the amp as a monitor, but I would recommend using a transformer-coupled DI box between amp and mixer to give isolation and reduce the risk of hum.
