There's been some discussion of the new range over on http://www.offsetguitars.com.

Opinion seems divided on whether the Jazzmaster and Jaguar ought to have '65-style bound necks (with the interim dots rather than block markers).

It'd be interesting to know whether Fender intend to do a '65-style Strat with bound neck (there were a few made), or a bound-neck, dot-marker Jazz Bass.

Aside from the possibility of transition-style 65-ish headstock decals, it's hard to see any difference between the 65 Strat and 64 Tele and the 1962 versions they've been doing up till now.

It is worth noting the 2012 range of the American Standards have the fat 50's fitted as standard and they are the ones as used on the 56 NOS which of course is a popular Shadows strat. Retail is around £1000 but looks a great job.

Nearly sure the new strats are about £1700,The 59 model is long overdue but anyone upgrading might consider a second hand custom shop model for the same price to protect their investment. A tough call for anyone with a few quid ?

The end of last year I purchased a New American standard Strat, the ash model with a sienna finish. This guitar didn't get the fat 50's they changed to just after I
bought the guitar so I ended up with the alnico V's. At first I didn't really care for them but the guitar has a delta sound adjustment and now I think I'll just leave
everything alone and forget about the fat 50's. I am also getting what I think is good sound now.
