I recently purchased a new fender "rumble 75" bass amp and wondered what players on here ( I guess particularly bass players )thought was the best way to set it up with my precision bass guitar to achieve best sound for Shadows bass lines? I am using flatwounds 45-105. Any advice or tips?

Bass is my main instrument but I've never used it for playing Shads.

I'd suggest however, set the volume on low to medium, then put all the tone controls to the 12 o'clock postion (flat).
Have a play and see what you think. If not happy, just make small adjustments on each separate tone control and see if that gets nearer to what you think, a Shads bass sound should be.

good luck :)

The Precision has a tone control. I suggest you wind out most of the treble and you may find your notes sound more Jet-like!

Amps are so different - and I'm not familiar with yours - plus the ambience of the room has an impact on the sound too. Also, a tone that may not sound very Shads-like on its own may work fine as part of the mix with the rest of the band.

I'm afraid there are no short cuts. Trial and error will teach you the range of sounds your gear can make. Choose a sound you like.

Hope this helps a bit.
