which amp?

Need to buy a new amp and i fancy one of the 'modeliste' types. Its to use for recording and small venues. Anybody have any knowledge of the following:
Fender Mustang IV, Vox valvetronix 120 or the Line6 spider IV.
Most of these amps have come out since i had the music shop 12 years ago!! many thanks

I wouldn't go past the Fender Superchamp XD, fantastic sounding amp, very light and at 15 watts, will suffice at small venues. I also have a Fender Mustang III and it's not in the same league.

Super champ xd is a cracking Little amp, recommended

thanks for that Alan. I mentioned the three amps as they can all (supposedly) create the sounds of other amps and can be directly connected to a computer, but i will have a look at the champs spec

The Fender Super Champ XD isn't produced anymore, it's been replaced by the more expensive Super Champ X2, although the XD might still be available from some resellers.

I have a Valvetronix VT15 and I think its a great little amp and the sound and effects selection is amazing for the price. I've never gigged it so I dont know how it'd do at a venue, I suppose if it were connected up to a mixing desk it would sound just fine. It certainly sounds great at home and I would'nt change it unless it was for another Vox

I remember listening to a Vox AD15-VT (VT15 previous model) at a meeting, and in a small venue (40 people), it was loud enough and good sounding (it was used with a Zoom G7 for effects).

I have friends who rate the Valvetronix series, quite highly. Top value.

I had a Super Champ XD. Great little amp with great reverb and other useful effects.
Unfortunately, you can only have one effect on, at a time.
Also, it does lack bottom end.

thankyou all for your thoughts. I have listened now to all the amps and have decided on the valvetronix. sounds are good and it is plenty loud enough for most of our gigs without needing to put it through the PA.

I have a couple of Valvetronix amps and they do the business - good choice.
