Is there a suitable replacement speaker for the Goodmans audiom 90 18" bass speaker (Vox bass amp)?

If you have a damaged Audiom 90 speaker, it probably can be repaired. I have a friend who has one, and the connecting wire to the moving coil was broken. It has been repaired.
You'll have difficulties to find a suitable 18" bass guitar speaker, those who are available are rather intended for PA. You might try a 15" speaker, which will need an internal DIY sub-baffle to cope with the smaller size.

I remember picking up a JBL 18inch speaker chassis, many years ago.

But for bass guitar, you are much better off with smaller chassis sizes, IMO.

It's indeed difficult to find a 18" bass speaker (not for me, but for our Bass player). Ordered is a 15" Jensen B15-200 bass speaker (€ 109,--). It will be fitted with a sub baffle.
Thanks for advice

Hi
Peter
as Mentioned A 15" Bass speaker Would be better (for a more defined Sound if using it on its own)
but if you wanted a 18" Speaker as part of a bi amped or crossover set up to use with other speakers
Then Eminence do a range of 18" Speaker that would be ok for Bass as well as Pa.

What sort of power (Wattage / ohms ) is the amp driving the speaker. This will also make a big difference.

Hello,

You will probably find that VOX fitted the Goodmans 91 18" speaker in your Foundation Bass cabinet. This speaker had a 55c/s resonance frequency coil/cone which enabled it to handle bass frequencies better than the Audiom 90. I believe that Geoff Lewis, who owns Matamp amplifiers, has an Audiom 91 which he took out of a Pepe Rush bass cabinet and he may sell this to you. Best of luck!

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to find a Goodmans audiom 90 So is the old speaker still around? I believe the 91 and the 90 were made in 2 impedances and with 2 resonant frequencies. My 90 is a 6 ohm and does apear to have its reasonance at 22cps. I am using it as a speaker for discs. Interesting I conected it to a frequenct generator and the cut off was 4k. About a week later I had my ears checked and they drop off at 4k so the bass speaker may go higher "

Any way please do not tell me you have dumped the 90

kind regards Graham Saunders
