Not sure how there can be a COA for this one:

Yes, Dave, I remembered you writing about your experience with Sonic Pro. The eBay listing describes it as a Hank Marvin signature (which I doubt, even though there is a transfer on the headstock...) and the package includes a COA - which is even more doubtful. If it's not authentic or official, what is the certificate certifying?

I don't know George, but I would hate someone to get shafted, money is hard to come by and there are many excellent Fender as well as other guitars out there that a far superior to the ones that they sell. A Fender Classic Player Strat can be bought for less than that money and they are far superior. I won't go on about it, just trying to help.

I have a SonicPro HM-1 Silver Series Signature. It is equally as good as any Fender Strat that I have ever owned (and that's quite a few) in looks, feel, and sound, and considerably less expensive.
I used this extensively on live gigs, and never had any cause for complaint.
Maybe you had a "rogue" instrument, or it just hadn't been set up correctly?
I know that when auditioning Strats, I found many that were rubbish, and a small number that were good, so it's a similar situation even with Fender guitars.
As I have retired, I'm now selling my kit, and already have had several interested parties enquiring after it.

i have had many Strats but never one any where near as bad as the Sonic Pro. It wasn't playable even after tweaking it, which is why it went back. The play in the trem arm was a joke. Incidentally, who's permission do they have to use Hank's name, does Brian Goode know about it ? :|

Wasnt there talk some years ago that they hired out instruments to pro bands for touring to save them using their expensive Fenders?

Yes, all the premier Shadows guitarists like Phil Kelly, Colin Price Jones etc used Sonic Pro - not. ;)

Obviously you used that hour before it went back to thoroughly set it up properly?
I sense that there was a hint of prejudice before it even came out of the outer wrapper.
I have to say that mine wasn't "perfect" out of the box, but was pretty much so within a couple of days of tweaking.
My trem performs as it should, and it rarely goes out of tune like the "proper" Fenders I have owned.
Still, that was your experience, which was vastly different to mine, and I accept that copies/fakes/replicas are not always the solution for many guitarists, but I preferred hanging my very expensive Strat on the wall whilst taking road risks with a copy :)

Sill no confirmation that Sonic Pro were legally entitled to use Hank's name on an inferior product.
Some people take liberties.

As we're going around in circles the thread is being locked.
