What VOX amps are those ?

Hi.There !

I wonder what vox amps those are.

Eugene those amps are standard size AC30s. Spread out on a large stage they do look quite small.

The AC30 in the centre is raised off the ground slightly.

The one in the middle is just a Vox Bass cab. Look at the depth. John used a separate amp top but because of the 'classic' AC30 look, the amp was usually out of sight behind the cab or, if it was used, the drum riser. That's why John always sat on it to play Nivram. No heat!!

As Stu says I suspect John's amp is a bass supertwin with seperate cab but it looks the standard size to me but on blocks, possibly to stop it "booming" through the stage.

John's bass amp in that period was actually a 700 series Vox head (like the ones supplied to the Beatles) and a deeper 2x12 cabinet.

It is discussed in some depth in the "Vox Amplifiers" book by Jim Elyea.
