If there are any members out there who use the Vox AD50VT amp for Shadows music, I would be interested and most grateful to hear what settings you use etc.
Best Regards

Hiya Kieth,

Ac30 TB setting, Gain at 10 to treble a quarter past middle a quarter to and bass at quarter/20 past, channel volume full main volume to suit you will probably need to b ack off the treble on the guitar for the bridge pick up
Thats what I use on my AD15VT so it should be about the same on your monster!
Hope this helps mate

Take care

Hi Magic,
I had a Vox AD50VT & an AD30VT about 5/6 years ago. While I was quite impressed with the AD30VT, I found the AD50VT a little lacklustre, to say the least, & both have since been sold on. The AC30 modelling is not too bad, but you have to keep the pre-amp gain quite low & the volume high in order to get a distortion free sound for playing Shads music. I tended to use the Fender Twin amp model rather than the AC30, which gave a nice clean, loud sound. The AD50VT model I found not really that much louder than the AD30VT & suspect that it may have been the particular 12" speaker in it which was probably not a very efficient (decibels) one. I have since replaced it with a Fender 15w Superchamp XD (real valves + modelling), & am really pleased with it. It also costs less than £300, although there is now a new version out with enhancements & a head & cab version with a 12" speaker called the Superchamp X2.

I don't think the AD50 VT behaves the same way as the AD30VT, I have owned each of them and sold the 50 as I struggled to obtain the results that the 30 gave me, even with a quality 12" speaker. The little 30 sounds right and when compared to my Fender Superchamp XD, both are modified with the Ragin' Cagun speaker, the Superchamp is excellent, but the Vox it edges it for accurate Shads tones across the board. The speaker modification improved both immensely.

Peter,Tony & Dave, many thanks for your help and advice, much appreciated. I'm glad it's just not me then that thinks it's not the easiest thing in the world to achieve an authentic sound out of the VOX AD50VT Valvetronix.

Peter, as always thanks for sharing with me your amp settings, I'll have a go with these and see how I get on. I'll get back to you as soon as I have tried out your setings.

Many thanks guys.
Regards Keith. (MagicOurMorris.)
