Hi all. It's been quite a while since Oasis Music issued The Shadows 50th Aniv Collectors outfit. Can I ask, any of the site members who are lucky enough to own one, what their thoughts are on the guitar now they have had time to play and get to know the instrument. How does it compare with their other Srat or Strats. How does it sound, now it's been "run in" so to speak?
Has anyone posted on the Sound files and video section using a CRS-59. If so can you point me in the direction of the post. I would love to hear one.

I don't play mine very often, I've got a 1993 62 re-issue and a 59 NOS C/S customer order that i use for everyday stuff, I think the last other player who used it was Danny Martin who played Apache and Wonderful Land L/handed upside down perfectly, the sound was spot on also !! . It still brings a smile to my face when i look at/play it

As per Dave I have just been through the original post and quite suprised at the negative comments that were made at the time,when the guitar was new and just become available, I think a bit of envy was involved here. I did make a note of the people who posted and were lucky enough to be owners so I hope they dont mind asking them what their thoughts are today, so Mr Martin, Tone,Scouser Joe, arrdvarkd, Unsospero what are your thoughts? Keith I am suprised you only look at it and dont play it very often.

Hi Geoff, I only play the CRS at home probably half a dozen times/month, taking it to the Hankies with my back/leg probs (balance) is not on as I would dread falling over with it round my neck, i did take it to Charlies Northwich weekend, but other players there where not as careful when handling it as i am, (I look after all my equipment fastidiously)

Quite right, It's a cracking piece of kit and should be looked after. Although I think they were built to be played.
Fantastic documentry on TV earler this week called The Search for The Messiah, all about Stradivari's violins etc and should they be played or put in a museum.
I may be copletely wrong here but I think a very large percentage of the CRS-59's will be put into the museum.

Mostly playing Gibsons at present but the CRS 59 still has pride of place. A great instrument and repository for all those memories both recent and distant...

I still love mine and, like David, it has pride of place. I have other guitars so I don't play it exclusively but it's my favourite and it gets regular airings. And when I'm not playing it I still get a buzz from just looking at it and picking it up. I've occasionally taken it to club meetings and it never fails to attract favourable comments on the way it looks and sounds.

I don't do a lot of recording and I've not done much with this guitar but, since you asked, I'll post a demo on the soundfile board.

Incidentally, I think most of the owners must be very happy with their purchase because very few have come up for sale since the run finished and those that have realised much higher prices than the original £5K. So, they were a good financial investment for those that thought that way.......but I'd never sell mine!
