Good morning Jim.
Nice pictures, I had forgot about Buck Owens, I will have to dig out my, loft lp's, there must be at least six of his up there. He had a very good lead guitar with him. I think his name is Don. I like the factory pictures. Could'nt work out which guitar the routed out headstock necks belong to. I see FBI on their museum wall, is this the tune they were playing?

Buck's lead player was the late Don Rich. They were both excellent players.

In 1964 for the school woodwork project, we all made solid body guitars - mine looked very very similar to that white Telecaster prototype- it didn't play when I took it home at the end of term- the fingerboard wasn't level - I cried....and a few weeks later, my dear old dad bought me a Hofner Club 40 on hire purchase because he could see that the guitar wasn't a five minute wonder for me...

As cockroach says, Buck's famous guitarist was (the late) Don Rich. See him classic action at:

...unwontedly playing a Gibson Les Paul Recording. And with his more usual Telecaster at: Check out the solo at 01:04.

Yes, FBI is the only Shadows reference I was able to make out on the Visitor Center wall - there was some music playing, but certainly not that record.

Which picture did you see the "routed out headstock" in?

Hi Jim.
It's the picture showing the "rough cut Strat neck's awaiting shaping" in the factory. I obviously did'nt look close enough the first time as they are shown with the rout for the tross rod prior to having the headstock thickness reduced.

I read somewhere that the Gibsons were supplied to Buck and the boys for an endorsement deal at some stage- they always used all Fender gear usually..
