It's been refinished and has some new parts fitted. The amount of changes would put me off paying that sort of price, may as well just bag a £4000 '54 Anniversary Reissue - a great guitar at a lot less money.

if it is its in very good condition and compared to the other one on here its not TOO bad a price (Ok £18000 is still far too much but cheaper than £53000)

The string tree is wrong, there shoudn't be a serial No on the neck plate (should be on trem spring cover) and the pup switch tip is wrong (should be 'football' shape' USA) too many things wrong for my liking !

Hello all,
By the time this guitar was assembled (at earliest 9/54), the serial number was indeed on the neck plate.
According to Duchossoir "In June 1954 Fender wisely decided to stamp the serial number on the neck plate which is a more structural part on the guitar.
It's pity that when the neck was refinished, an incorrect headstock decal was used. Up until 1960 the decal read 'Fender Stratocaster with synchronised tremolo'.
Post 1960, patent numbers were added.
A good looking guitar indeed, but a pity about the inaccurate re-finishing. Then again, maybe that's what the owner requested?
Cheers,
JB

Hi John, I stand corrected the serial No and switch tip was changed 9/54 but no mention of the string tree being changed from the round one. regards Keith
