Secondhand prices for Marvin

The secondhand prices for Marvins seem to have dropped over the past year. I have followed some nice ones which seem to fetch £650 -750. I wonder whether the Marvin has reached saturationI in the market. Could be that everyone that wants one has one now.
I heard a rumour that BG may not continue production of the model - I suppose he still has to pay Hank. It would also appear that many don't like the Made in China tag now !
This Deja Vu model seems to be advertised a lot.
Does made in China now apply to all Burns guitars including the Dream ? Not sure what BG can do to increase sales as it would be awful to see Burns disappear !

As I understand it, the components are made in China but assembled in the the UK. At least, that was definitely the case when I bought my Burns Elite Dream (one of the first ones, Serial 0006). Or have things changed since then?

I wonder who would do the assembly over here ? If the Chinese can make them why would they not assemble them there. Alan Entwistle on hand to check QC. If the quality is there I suppose it doesn't matter where they're assembled ? In fact that should make them cheaper as can be shipped as parts. I really don't know or understand.
I do realise that some prefer a Made In England.

I think you will find second hand sale prices have been going down for a couple years, used fender guitars haven't seemed to have moved for a while, not gone down a lot but we have been in a period of economic decline for at least 5 years now and people just don't have the spare money they had 5 -6 years ago. so I don't think its just burns a lot company's in all sorts of sales are feeling the pinch. peter

My 'Dream' was assembled in the UK by Burns.

I can't see where there's a problem here with the Burns Marvin prices. When they were re-introduced in 2004, the cost was £699.00, a fair price for what it is and the build quality. Someone later jacked up these prices to beyond what the guitar is worth and for a while it seemed to be accepted, but common sense seems to have prevailed. The later Burns Dream is another product, although looks very similar, but as Noel said these are assembled in the UK. I acquired a similar guitar from the poster (Burns Apache) of this thread for my colleague and it's a beauty. I can see a difference in quality between that guitar and my 2004 Marvin, though nothing that makes it a deal-breaker.

Thanks for the info on this thread. What I am not sure of is the seemingly big difference in Made / Assembled in China and Made in China / Assembled UK. I don't have an assembled in UK model and wonder what the difference is - Q C ? Components are the same. Some of the guitars coming out of China are excellent.
Is it quality or perceived quality.
Some are saying the MIC models are heavier with less quality components to MIUK but surely they must be the same now.
Is BG doing the assembly himself or does he have a company doing this for him. Every time I have rang or mailed it appears BG is the only person at UK
Dave is correct about the Apache purchased from me it was a fine guitar and I guess was UK manufacture.

As an aside I was with Eddie Cross the other day and he told me when he's speaking with Barry about producing the Apache Eddie suggested the Indian head which is used - which incidentally not an Apache. He was also doodling with the Apache name and drew the WigWam effect which BG immediately liked. Useless info but interesting when looking how things developed
