The guitar looks great, a red/salmon red/flamingo pink Fender Stratocaster. I may well tune in...

I watched the lawnmower one on iPlayer last night and it was...well...a man reassembling the component parts of a 1959 petrol lawnmower, condensed into 30 minutes. You can't accuse the Beeb of not playing to niche audiences...

I can imagine the Strat one will be quite interesting if it follows the same tone, although if they don't have him winding the pickups by hand then I'll feel cheated.

It's actually aTokai Strat, I recorded it and watched the first ten minutes and lost the will to live. :|

It missed out all the setting up information - and wiring details.
Oh well !

Are you still alive Dave?

Robbo, come off the fence and say what you think for a change. :-)

One thing he didn't do was a set up. Intonation, string height, tremolo adjustment and set the neck correctly.
Would have taken a lot longer to do all this.

And of course no mention of the iconic 'red guitar' players that make everyone in the world want one - not cool enough for Mr May presumably. Can't think who I mean?!?!

Well, as a non-guitarist I found it strangely interesting. I now know more about guitars than I did before watching it (how pickups work with magnetic fields, etc...) and also I now know of yet another thing that I would never, ever have the patience to do!

No, he didn't wind the wires round the pickups by hand - but then, from what he said of the length of the wire, it would have taken him a couple of weeks! And, I'll admit that I was fooled by the shots of him 'playing' the guitar at the end! As I say, I'm a non-guitarist. he comes across well, with some amusing comments - especially the one about someone owning a drum kit not necessarily qualifying them to call themselves a drummer !
;)

More importantly, just after the programme there was an advert for a new series called 'My Generation'. The ad included the oft-seen clip of the Shads playing FBI on Crackerjack. I shall be watching.

As usual no shads...it's a shame the first British guitarhero , the one who made red guitars famouse isn't seen at all!
