Burns Deja Vu Japanese model Marvin
What do people think of this? I think it looks good and is reasonably priced in Japan. No reference to Hank or Shadows on this model. I notice the tremolo surround is missing like many from China

Which sometimes was a problem with a few Burns guitars with a zero fret.

I wonder if this is a legitimate Burns guitar, or maybe one of those Chinese pirate copies ? I haven't noticed it on the Burns website. Yes, it's a great looking guitar & the price is very good value, & I hope it is genuine.
A friend of mine recently bought from online a copy PRS which looks phenomenal, with a beautiful finish, & it plays fine too. It was only about £300 & is a copy of a £2,000+ guitar. I doubt whether it is anywhere near the genuine thing, but it looks the part & is 'OK'.

This guitar ably illustrates the pitfalls of employing Far Eastern production. Although originating from the same Chinese factory, the Deja Vu is not an official Burns London model and Barry Gibson accordingly receives no financial return from this instrument. It's instead being supplied direct by the manufacturer to a Japanese distributor, who requested the various different visible features (locking tuners, string guide, sunburst finish, model designation). Having given no permission for either the design or delivery, Barry naturally tried to stop production, but was told to abandon these efforts or else the factory would instead cease making HIS range - the Chinese are certainly far from subtle or inscrutable when it comes to commercial blackmail! Barry generously states that quality is up to the same standard as that of 'proper' Burns instruments, but sales of the latter are obviously adversely affected by any such unauthorised opposition.
