Fender Champion amps

Has anyone tried or bought one of these please?

I know, I know...it doesn't have valves, which you all love ...

But... I am 66 with the usual age related joint and muscle issues, and still gig regularly, and the Champion 40 is a 40 watt 1x12 combo with built in effects- including echo/delay, which weighs about half what my current Marshall 50 watt transistor combo does...

A former bandmate has a Champion 100 which he uses with a Tele in a country band. He brought it over last week and a quick listen suggests it is pretty good - he might bring it along to our next Into The Shadows rehearsal to let me try it. Much to heavy to carry for me, but I guess the 40 will be lighter.

Yes, I think the difference in weight between a twin speaker vs a single speaker really restricts me to a single combo...

I picked up the 40 in the shop and it was light as a feather...my Marshall weighs twice as much, according to the specs of both amps in the owner's manuals..

Only thing is, the Champion 40 doesn't have a middle control- which I use a lot with a Tele as it helps tame the high treble of the guitar- which can cut through excessively when playing live at gigs- and I don't want to p*ss off either the audience or the rest of the band by apparently being too loud!

I recently bought a Champion 40 and I think it is great value for money.
I use it for rehearsals with my band and that is no problem. The only thing I did was change the stockspeaker for a Jensen Falcon C12/50.
This speaker added a bit extra weight, bigger magnet, but it is still lightweighted. I also forced my back with the Ac30 and the AC15.
I don't miss a midcontrol as I do have on my Fender Blues Deluxe 1993. (Heavy weighted too!)
The amp is very loud and stays clean even almost at 10, No valves, no problem, it sounds clear and warm.
Coming Saturday I will use it for the first time at a gig, together with my Zoom MS70CDR that I programmed with my echo's. It worked very well on the rehearsal yesterday.

Hi,

I have seen guitarists using two Fender Champion amps, (in a small venue), one each side of the stage, plus the usual delay, eq pedals etc. Sounded ok to my ears.
