Choice of pick

Postby MikeAB » 24 Nov 2015, 12:41

I've always used Fender medium picks and have never found anything else I like - but now I seem to find these slip around a bit too much in fingers that no longer get roughed up so much in retirement (!).

Does anyone use those picks with special enhanced grips - if so which ones - and what thickness etc?

I always punch a hole in my plectrums with a standard hole-punch. It's just enough to give more grip.

Cactus - never used anything else since I discovered them a few years back. Great grip - never dropped one.

Used standard Dava control picks for years. Never dropped one, but, more importantly, they have great tone, and allow a rhythm and lead thickness in a single pick...

I glue a small strip of fine sandpaper to each side. Works well for me playing bass.

I have started to run into pick slipping issues. The information posted here is very useful.

I followed Jim Tidmarsh's idea - seems to work with the picks I have. Seems I am not holding the pick correctly. I am holding the pick between thumb and across first and second fingers - not noticed this until recently. Maybe its because I have developed Trigger Thumb - injection in two weeks.

Looking into the other picks.

Cheers all
