Expensive J-160E, stolen?

No Shads connection, but an interesting story nevertheless... John Lennon's 'missing' Gibson J-160E sells at auction in California for £1.7 million. The guitar was always reported as being stolen from the Finsbury Park Astoria, c. Dec-Jan 1963-64, and presumably Lennon (or George Harrison) never saw it again.

Maybe it is just my imagination, but the sunburst shading round the lower bout now appears narrower and less distinct than its original appearance...

The sunburst Gibsons' do lose their colour over time and this will have been identified by the serial number stamped into the back of the headstock.
