A short while ago there was a thread about EQ settings and someone posted suggested settings for 10 band units like the Caline for both pre 1963 and post 1963 Shadows tones.
Ive forgotten where that thread is and would like to retrieve it , can anyone help please ?

Hi Roger, thanks for your reply - that was indeed the thread that I meant, and specifically your posting with the pre and post 1963 settings.
Just one further question - I notice that the setting for pre 1963 250hz is 9 whereas the surrounding frequencies all show minus numbers. Is that 9 correct or should it be minus 9?
by the way i use the Caline with both an AC15 and a AC30 and a valve Etap and the sound is very authentic. I find it much more difficult to get the Burns sound even with a Burns Legend ( not the cheap Marvin)but I suspect there was a lot more processing going on in the studio than we are awareof. I have heard people playing original 64 Marvins live and they dont really sound much different to my Legend so I feel there must be something extra to achieve that nasal quality that you hear on record.
regards

No it is correct at +9 that boosts low mids which is along with high mids is where the boosting is generally done. The bass is cut on the early sound but increased on later sound and the upper mids and lower mids also change. The 4k slider is another to change and makes a difference to say Wonderful Land when reduced. But on say neck PU tunes you want a bit more 4K
I use the Caline as well and told everyone about it !

Not a Burns sound specialist, but from what I know it is the Top Boost sound of the AC30 with bass full on and treble till it starts to bite. Preferably with a De Armond Tone pedal in circuit, with the tone section up full to the right and volume section wide open.
On a traditional Top Boost Circuit the last 1/4 turn on the bass pot gives the nasal sound which is where a scoop at 800Hz is caused by the tone circuit design.
If you do not have an AC 30, then you could perhaps get something like it if you scoop the 800Hz out with a Parametric EQ or maybe a Graphic EQ and use plenty of bass and treble with the mid control turned down on your amp. Sadly the Caline does not cover 800Hz. It depends on your amp and you will need to use your ears.

Also read the Top Boost Circuit Thread in this section and you will see not all Top Boost circuits are the same in this modern world !
