I have a chance of an AC30VR at a reduced price. Any views on this amp anyone?!

Hoping for quick comments before it goes!

Thanks

Mike

Change of tack - the AC30VR will not fit where I need to put it anyway - so having started looking at amps (to replace the 'disgraced' Stockton) the Vox Pathfinder 10 looks pretty good for a mere bedroom player (but who likes it a bit loud when everyone is out)

Someone must have one - is it as good as the reviews say? Something so cheap worries me as it seems too good to be true!

I was looking at the AC15VR - but with the wrong dimensions advertised (shown as too large) - it's actually small enough so so that's where I'm heading now!

Better look for a second hand Pathfinder 15.

I agree with Didier, get a Pathfinder 15r if you can find one. It has tremelo and reverb and is probably one of the best "bedroom" amps available. And pretty loud too so ok for small gigs. Headphone socket for late night practise!

I agree - I love my Pathfinder 15R but recently have been thinking of trading it for the new VX1 (smaller, lighter and has amp simulation) as it cant really get that AC15/30 sound form the Pathfinder.

Also toying with the idea of keeping it and buying a Joyo pedal - just can't decide which way to go!!

I've been having the exact same thoughts but I think I would regret selling the Pathfinder.......I usually live to regret most of my sales! :(
I wonder if I could persuade SHMBO that I need both?!

Hi Mikey,

In another thread Dave Robinson said he will try to test one (VX I / VX II) very soon. I am looking forward to hearing his comments as he clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience in getting to 'That Sound'

Best have a look on Youtube to see some demos of the Vox VR series. I too have had a Pathfinder 15 for many years now. It cost me about £79 new when I bought it about 12 years ago, & I would be loathe to part with it. It's a great little practise amp & it gets 80% of the way to a decent Voxy sound. Remember, it is not a valve amp, so you won't get that little extra that an AC15/30 gives, but of course there is a massive price difference.
