DI/Line out

My amp has a "DI out" socket on the back. If I use this to connect to another amp, should I use an ordinary guitar lead, or a speaker cable? Also if I connect from the "Line out" socket on my PA to an active monitor, do I use a guitar lead or a speaker cable?
