I recorded atlantis clip with Zoom G3 and Fender Strat straight onto the PC with 3 different patches. One is the EFTP patch. Can you tell which one?

It all sounds good, but I'm listening on my iPad and it isn't easy to tell any difference, I'll have a listen on the headphones when I get home, or if I can borrow some. :)

Had a listen on the speakers but it's all a bit bassy, but a wild guess that EFTP is number three. I hear some compression on number one, but like I say the whole mix is swamped with bass, which makes it awkward to tell. :)

OK Derek I had a listen on the studio speakers and what a difference, I was listening from my iPad on one of those wireless speakers and it did no favours at all, so I am now on my Macbook through the studio kit.
The first and second ones have compression but I hear a different sounding guitar and hardly any compression on the third, but I still think that is the EFTP one. :)

Yes I agree with Dave number three is Ross' patch,

I would say too much compression on one and two and reverb also a bit over done on number two.

I don't think there is too much compression Jim. On the original the compression is massive on the verses. The intro, middle bit and outro sounds like a different 'take' to me.

Atlantis was remastered in 1995 and it sounds as though the melody was over dubbed because it comes across a lot stronger than the intro, and outro especially on the outro where the last note was plucked in conjunction with the last piece of melody. Or am I wrong? I prefer the Abbey Road Version which is raw with no additions, but thats just my personal preference. And Yes No 3 is EFTP the other two are yours Dave.

Thanks Derek, I had a play with my Zoom G3x yesterday and increased the echo volume on heads 1/2/3 just a tad, as I felt that they were a little low on yours. It's the compression that causes it to sound that way, and I think because there are two lead guitar racks, the one on the plinky bits has little or no compression as opposed to the verses which are almost 'breathing' with compression. The perfect 'take' for you would to play the plinky bits on the EFTP patch and switch to the compressed patch for the verses. I also think that the verses patch would benefit from some bass taken away and some high MID added with the graphic EQ on the Zoom.
