ZOOM G3; Ross Hall's Patches & Windows 8.1

Hi y'all,
I wonder if anyone has successfully loaded Zoom Edit and Share onto a computer running Windows 8.1, and has also loaded the latest patches offered for sale on Ross Hall's new website, without problems?
I believe that the Zoom needs to start as a Version 2 unit, and then have the firmware upgraded to Version 2.1 from another download on the Zoom website, before Edit & Share will successfully load Ross's patches????
I'm reluctant to shell out £95 for the G3, and then £80 for Ross''s patches in case the whole fandango doesn't work out!
So; any experiences, good or bad, to share on the forum ; fellow guitarists?.

Thanks for that suggestion, Kipper. I think that's good advice. But I can't see a 'Contact Us' type section on the website. I'll get hold of his email address from somewhere.

Yes i've successfully loaded ross hall's patches on windows 8.1 with no problems
