There were quite a few in our local music stores ten or more years ago and I did have a play on one. I had a white Marquee before the Marvins' were reissued and it was nice to play and the bound version was the same as I remember it. At that time I had Kinman Pickups fitted to mine and quite liked it and then the Marvin arrived and the pickups found there way onto a Strat when the Marquee was sold. I like the look of the binding, it gives it a bit of class. :)

I've in my collection a sample of this guitar in this exact colour.
It's called a Marquee S (special) ...I bought one of the fist ever made, direct from Barry Gibson's display booth.
As extra mine has proper Burns knobs on the pots and switch.
There are two versions the first series had the trust rod screw on the body side of the neck, later versions had the end, at the headstock side covered with a plastic plate.
Transparent Green, Red, and Blue were the only colours made in this version.
Later models as the Marquee ,Shadow special are all derived from this guitar and had other colours like sunburst, black , white etc.

Cheers Rob

Dave I saw that one on eBay and liked it but I thought he had priced it high. I had also been looking at a red one on Gumtree which I have now purchased for £330, which seems about the price for a standard Marquee. I hadn't realised that Burns had used Foto Flame on this particular model back in 2000..
Thanks to you and Rob for your help.
Late Christmas present to myself

Hi Bill, I saw the one on Gumtree last night too, but when I saw your post after mine I thought that you wasn't bothered so I didn't mention it. You are of course right, £449 is too much for that instrument, I don't think it's a fair second hand price. The one you bought is more like a fair price, it's a good looking guitar. :)
