Try the MXR which used to be the Dunlop pedal ,you can pick up one for about £125.
Same pedal that Duane Eddy uses. It has a very rich sound to it.

Albeit that I don't have that critical an ear BIll, I was always satisfied with the Boss TR2 pedal. It's at the more economy end of the scale and I think that I paid just over £40 for mine s/h on eBay. I really love that particular effect and wished that amp manufacturers would include it more alongside reverb in mid-priced, non FX/modelling units. To my ears, I've never found anything that came close to the lush sound of the built-in tremolo (that Leo oddly called vibrato whilst referring to the Stratocaster's bridge as a tremolo!) that was in my old 80's 135w Twin Reverb. Recently, quite a few of the more boutique amp makers are putting the effect in their higher-end stuff. I've read rave reviews of the British-built Lazy J amps and these can be ordered with both valve driven reverb & tremolo. Very tasty, but at close on £2K, out-of-reach of many. Pete Townshend and EC are quite partial to them I believe........

Yes Stephen, the old tremolo in the valve amps was ace.
I love the effect.
These days I use invariably my Korg Ampworks pedal for everything, echo distortion, tremolo, the lot but they're hard to find now.

This soundfile (of the video )that I recently put up was done using the tremolo on an AC15 in 1963. ( A black one, I'm sure that would affect the tone. )

I have a Behringer TP300 tremolo pedal. Works well and less than £20.

Hi Ecca I wanted a small foot pedal to use with my Catalinbread Echorec. I have been experimenting with putting the Echorec through the Eccamatic and its a bit messy at the moment but will Percy's Ear with it

It was after reading a post of yours Ecca, which mentioned the little Ampworks, that I searched eBay for one and eventually turned up a good condition example for £40. Totally agree with you, great sounds & dead simple to use. In fact after buying it I gave my Pocket Pod to one of my sons as a Christmas present some years back. Think he was expecting a guitar, but never mind.....
Mikey is right, Behringer gear is fantastic value for money & very well specd. too. I bought a mint s/h one of their EM600 Echo Machines from a member on here for a mere £15. Didn't really need one, but couldn't resist a bargain. Doesn't sound that inferior to the much pricier Boss DD3 that I used to own, but possibly not quite as gig-worthy.
Don't think that you'll be disappointed with the Boss pedal though, Bill.
Stephen.

The Zoom pedals can do a very good tremolo. For my G2 I rejected all the weird patches (presets) that it offered and built about ten that replicated effects for sounds that are actually heard on records - tremolo, chorus, single slapback echo, Hank-style Apache echo, gentle vibrato, etc.

These are the settings for Tremolo, which is sweetened with a little echo/reverb
Comp oF
Wah/SFX tr 0,31,13
ZNR oF
Drive oF
EQ E9 0,0,0
Extra EQ oF
Mod/FX ub 0,45,98
Delay dL 20,32,24
Reverb SP 9,5,50
