Nice looking amp David

Which speaker does yours have ?

I came across a similar smaller model (5w) & it was full of what looked like quality components (orange drop caps etc....) needed a bit of work to clean up the hum but a very nice amp 6v6 output

These chinese amps are getting scarily good lately, it will be a very good base amp that is easy to mod........nice 8-)

Hmm find that a bit unusual to get a "shads" tone easily with octal output valves & a V30 speaker ?

Interesting to say the least as the V30's have a pronounced midrange boost. The more usual speaker is Jenson, Weber & Eminence in these "fenderish" amps.

Just goes to prove that it either works or does not & until you try it for yourself never rule it out :D

What do I know eh !!

Dick.

The guy who imports them requested a slight mod to the circuit and the V30... Gets a good Burns tone too with mid off, bass 2/3, bright on and treble to bite!

(Not saying it's as good as my sorely missed '64 Vox Top Boost - now residing in Old Hat - but better than most... and on the gain channel, a Les Paul just oozes!)

30 Selmer-Zoidiac Mk I-type watts with two EL34s?

Or two 6L6s á la Pro Reverb?

It'll be the tone mod that earths out the middle tone control at minimum giving more tone variation which would explain choosing the V30 I suppose.

Easy enough to check by turning all 3 tone controls to minimum, if there's no sound that's what has been done, helps a lot with Les Pauls & such when looking for overdriven tones in the scooped way so popular these days .

Good to see a supplier thinking about what they are selling & offering just that bit more for your cash :D
