Hi, I hav'nt used my Bugera v22 amp for a while, house move etc i wanna blow the dust off it this weekend and have a blast, can someone tell me the correct way of turning it on/off ? theres a lot of contrasting views on the net on how it should be done, i always thought power on, wait about 1 minute then standby. turn off is standby wait a minute then power off?
Regards
Neil

I can't see anything wrong with what you described, just have a look at the valves when it's switched on to make sure they are glowing evenly, then hit the standby and listen for any crackles and noise. If there are any, usually it will settle down once it gets warmed up. :)

Hi Neil
Not familiar with that model amp but the ways to switch an amp on fall into 2 categories.

If it has a valve rectifier just switch it on,

If it has a solid state rectifier (diodes) the standby switch should be in the "on" position that is it is blocking the power getting into the amp & only the valve heaters are working. After 30 secs or so switch the amp on to working state using the standby switch.

As Dave mentioned have a squint around the back in case there is anything unusual happening during the powering up period.

No funny smells/smoke etc... carry on playing 8-)

Dick.

Bugera v22 amps are notorious for the pilot light going out. You must check round the back and have a look . If it's lit then you're ok to just switch on. Look and check the colour, if yellowish, the valve just needs a pipe cleaner pulled through and the indicator lamp then should be red and away you go.

The Bugera amp range are a gas to play.

Something to do with these amps being a "gas" to play I think, Phil.

I've been playing Kelly amps for years, no standby switch just a power switch, so no option other than turn it on, they've gone on and on with an occasional valve change now and then.
