Mandolin trem

Hi All

who makes a trem / vibrato for a mandolin, I've seen a clip of a mandolin tutorial and his mandolin has a Bigsby style trem on it, I've searched Bigsby's site without success and all the usual places.

Any ideas?

Geoff

Why not send Stewart McDonald an e mail they may not have one but am sure they could point you in the right direction. I have always found them very helpful. Not sure why you would need one but it must be interesting to try

I see no reason why a Bigsby type trem couldn't be modified to fit.
The problem might be a roller bridge for it but then it isn't essential, you could have a rocking bridge.....
If I had a mandolin I'd be tempted to make one for myself.

it was certainly a Bigsby style but much shorter (smaller in all dimensions) and had a standard bridge and left handed.

I don't particularly want one, it just looked interesting and then searched to find one without success, a bit like the 3 pickup Jaguar (not a Bass VI) that the band Meshugga Beach Party use, you see these things and think where'd they get that from?

It would be a simple job for a skilled luthier to add a centre pickup to a Jaguar. It would also make sensible use of the three-switch console on the upper bout of the treble side...

A Manhattan [Sound Control] Jazzmaster-Strat hybrid. Offset body (Jazzmaster/Jaguar) with Strat-style pickups and trem. Bought on a whim in an SC sale some years ago...

the 3 pickup Jag had 3 Jag pickups and a 4 position switch as per the new Squier Bass VI, and the rhythm circuit above.

The pickup would hve been easy to add but the 4 position switch harder to source when I first saw this 5 or 6 years ago
