Hi David.

I would say they look the same. And the 59 looks in bloody good nick. My son has a 63 strat, looks like it just survived WW2.
I hope you have that well insured, particularly with the covernance it has.

All the best.
Ian.

The point of my posting those pictures was to show that Fender still have a faithful reproduction of the fiesta red colour. Some folks were saying that they had forgotten exactly what shade of red it was, which I have attempted to show otherwise. I had seen the guitar owned by Colin of the Rapiers and sought one for myself. Quite a few of my friends also own the '62 reissue and they are all the same shade of red, which shows the colours are consistent. Hank's guitar always looked very red on some of the E.P. covers, but on other photographs it looked different - pink in fact ! I put that down to the inconsistency of printing colour back then. If you go into one of the photo editing programmes and play about with the tempreture and hue controls, you will easily see how hank's gutar colour could change from E.P. cover to all the magazines it appreared in, nearly always a different shade of red or pink.

The '59 Strat is owned by the son of our rhythm guitarist Malc and he made a call to Music Ground a couple of years ago to have it valued. After he described the guitar over the phone, they were at his house within hours of his request, with a cheque for £30,000. In actual fact, he was advised by an alternative expert to insure for no less than £50,000 - that said, as nice as it is for what it is, it doesn't really play or sound any better than what I and others already have and I would have to be stupidly rich to want to give £50,000 for what is just a £160.00 fifty three year old guitar (reality check !) Don't get me wrong I would love to own it, but I can think of more important things to spend fifty grand on. I can play it upon request, so that'll have to do for me. ;)

OK, not a Stratocaster, but you can do a comparison between Fiesta Red and Coral at:

Try changing a Jazzmaster from one colour to the other.

Hi all,

I guess I am going to open a can of worms.
The irony of it is that I am not at all interested in the different shades of FIESTA RED.
I was browsing the web and found this forum on Telecasters and Strats and I thought they had some food for thought.

Anyway here it is for your information. It's probably stuff you already know.

Good comparison for the two colours on the Jazzmaster example. What about the Candy Apple Red too?

Yep, that Tahitian Coral is much nearer to what I saw in UK shops in the early '60s. I'm not saying what we had was actually 'Tahitian Coral', but I go with the theory that we had repaint jobs by UK distributors that came out that way, & I'm talking about '60s Rosewood board Strats, not Maple neck '50s versions, which we saw very little of in the early '60s.
