But watch out for traffic.

The last thing we want is what our transatlantic cousins call a fender-bender.

To bring us back onto the subject of cases, I have a little hint for you (and I realise I'm giving away a trade secret here but I don't mind sharing it with you lot). It is sometimes possible to pick up guitar cases for next to nothing, in fact sometimes effectively nothing, because many people who sell guitars don't realise what they're worth!

Last month I bought a secondhand Squier Strat for £80. It came with a strap, lead, capo, loads of plectrums and a Zoom multi-effects unit complete with power supply - and all in a hard case. And the seller was near enough that I could collect it thus saving on carriage charges. The guitar needs a little work done on it - nothing I can't handle - and the case now contains a very nice 1971 reissue Strat that I bought without a case the month before (members of the North Notts club heard me play it at the last meeting).

And just yesterday I picked up a genuine Gibson padded gig bag (will fit Strats and Teles also) for £27 including postage. Everything's out there if you look for it!

Hi Steve,

Good post. I, and I bet many others out there have never thought about looking for a case on the second-hand market.

Regards
Roger
