Its all personal preference - set the trem unit up so that its right for YOU. If you don't like the arm it came with - change it for one you do like! I find that as long as it isn't too different to my original I can get along with it just fine after a short time using it and becoming familiar with it.

Alan,
Thanks for the tip on bending Tremolo Arms.
Having just bought a Classic 50s Vibe strat and finding the arm to high I wondrered on the best way to bend it.
One block of wood with a hole in it later, I have the perfect shape and no damage to the chrome.
Many Thnks,
Tim.

I have the tremolo arms my three Strats all bent (adjusted) to the same height. I use 130mm EasyMute arms and from the tip to the scratchplate is 54mm. This enables me to have the tip loosly in the palm of my hand whilst I play. Regarding bending, I like the others have a block of wood (50mm x 50mm x 150mm or 2" x 2" x 6") with a hole drilled in the middle exactly the right size for the arm to fit into. The arm must then be pushed down into the wood as far as it will go (right into the bend). Then using two hands to try and make sure when bending, that the bend adjustment takes place at the bend that enters the wood. Always works for me.
Regards
