Elimination my boy. ;)

1) guitar > amp
any issues with volumes? This will test guitar, lead and amp, have two of each if possible just in case. If everything operates as it should, look at the Quad GT. Check the additional lead that will be used when you hook up to the GT.
Is there an input meter/level on the GT (or is it just the Q2 & Q20)? From memory, the input level should be set between 12 and 2 o'clock and check the meter level (if appropriate) and if a signal is obvious, it could well be the output of the GT.
You can eliminate or confirm the GT to be the problem, by using another guitar, amp and lead.

It looks like a amp problem Alan I've tried 3 different leads direct to amp and still no volume. thanks for the reply

Turn off the amp. Squirt some switch cleaner on a jack plug and plug the jack in and out several times (quickly) on every jack socket on the amp - especially the send / return jacks on the back - common problem with the VT120 / 60 ;)

As Mark says Keith known problem. Vox uses crap sockets I had to get Amanda to replace 4 on my AC30 Heritage recently.

Hi Keith,
I agree absolutely with Mark and Roger.
I had a VT60 and the send/return sockets were always giving problems.
Do you use the GT via send and return or do you plug guitar into GT and then plug GT into amp input ?
If you use second method try plugging a patch lead between amp send and return sockets. This will bridge out the internal switches on the sockets.
Regards, Dave

Hi Dave, I've squirted all the sockets and tried a patch lead on send/return but still no appreciable increase in volume. Could it be the 12AX7 valve ? I've got a 12AY7 i could try. Thanks Keith

A duff valve will cause a drop in volume, try it.
