Ken Ward/Meazzi

Hello all,

My name is Alex Ward son of the late Ken Ward (Kwstrat). Over the last couple of years since my dad passed away I've become increasingly aware of the online presence he had in several communities to do with the shadows and meazzi's. As I have 0 knowledge about meazzi's other than knowing it is a tape echo machine from the 60's used by Hank Marvin so I'm turning to the community for help. I've recently spoken to Justin Daish in an effort to find out more about tape echo machines but I would also love to hear about my dad as I was unaware when he died about how involved with all of this he was.

I will also be selling off all of his meazzi equipment which is a fair amount of kit, including one fully working machine, two half built machines and a mass collection of parts. I do not know what many of the parts are but I know I've seen seen a front panel lying around and I do believe that he also bought original 'wheels'? for the machine shortly before he passed away. I'm going to be emailing pictures of the kit to Justin for help in identification etc but I would also like to share these pictures with the wider community, especially those interested in buying their own meazzi equipment so tomorrow I will also upload the photos to this thread. He was also working on some fairly complicated schematics for the machines which if I come across I will upload for all to see because I know that he would have done the same.

In addition to this I would also love to chat with anyone who had any involvement with my dad as I was only 17 when he passed away so missed out on learning about this side of his life, I know he was in frequent contact with a Bill Davis aka Texas Bill so if anyone knows him or has contact details they could pass on I would be very grateful.

I am new to forums and the community so if I have posted this in the wrong place please move it and forgive my ignorance and if I have posted it in the wrong place and you know people who would be interested in this please direct them here, as and when I place the items on eBay I will include all the links in this thread.

Many thanks all, see you tomorrow with pictographs.

Alex

I only ever had brief contact with your dad Alex and that was a long time ago, but some guys around here are sure to be able to help.
You did right to post here so don't worry about that. You could also have a look on Charlie Hall's site too as there are a lot of 'techies' on there. Just Google Charlie Hall & Friends and introduce yourself. :)

Also you mention that you have some parts and I know Ecca is attempting to re-create a wheel Meazzi machine so you may be able to help him in some way. Then there's Amanda who does Meazzi restoration as well as one or two other members who have been known to be enthusiastic over the Meazzi. :)

Thanks for the reply Dave,

I've just had a look and will register there later on when I have more time, I've struggled to find any genuine meazzi parts for sale as a listing so hopefully this should generate some interest on its own as my dads music room was cluttered with bits for them, I also have 2 guitars that I cant find any info about, one was his pride and joy, a shadows anniversary stratocaster but I've not been able to identify which one it was it says 10 of 20 and is gold plated will also post pics tomorrow, and the other I also spoke to Justin about which is a Yamaha semi acoustic 12 string, I know my dad got in contact with Yamaha who said as far as they could tell it was the only one they'd ever made but they said they'd get back to him on that and never did sadly, again will post pics and any info would be great.

Cheers
Alex

Hello all,

Wow, what a Meazzi bonanza I've just come across I'll be uploading all the pictures shortly, included in the pictures is a working factotum meazzi, a half built factotum and a factotum that was just started, two meazzi speakers and a whole hell of a lot of Meazzi parts as I' am unaware what the majority of the kit is any insights and any guestimates on value would be greatly received. All of the items that I list here are for sale and I imagine the majority of the parts will be going on eBay within the next week or so if not through private sales. Feel free to ask me any questions about any of the items you see or may be interested in. I apologise for any poor quality pictures they were all taken with my iPhone in a relatively low light room. In addition to all the parts I came across an entire folder of schematics several of which look original but due to the sheer volume and the potential intellectual rights that may be attributed to them I will not be uploading them just yet.

Thanks all hope this interests many of you.
Alex

I am attempting do you know any short cuts on how to do it so I can reduce them all together as opposed to individually as I've got 81 photos
