Have you tried/considered the VOX Mini 3G2?
Its light as a feather, has all the Vox, Fender, Marshall tones built in and doe's brilliant Shadows sounds.
Don't be put of by its small size, it packs quite a punch in the volume stakes, and is ideal for home use.

Thanks for the advise, chaps, but I still need something more than a mini-amp for use at my local Shadows Club. I'm torn between an AC4 1-12 and a Laney Cub 12.
The AC4 is the front runner for the Vox tones, but the Laney has the advantage of 15 watts and I'm not sure about the sounds. I'll have to investigate the local shops, if there are any left!

You could look at the BUGERA V5 all tube amp which has the speaker jack on the back so you could connect a bigger speaker cab when needed, or what about the VOX valvetronix range they are not too heavy.

Pat, I have a old valve Laney (not the newer type) LC15R with a Roger Alcock EF86 unit fitted and it sounds fantastic. It is much smaller, lighter and more portable than my AC15. I have used it for small gigs with no problem. I have seen them on ebay pretty cheap.
