How many of those amps did they produce?. I was told only a few hundred. is this correct?. I have a chance to buy one that's been lying in the store (new) for a few years. Have a great day, Scott

Hi Scott

The handwired Heritage series was released in January 2007 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Vox amps . The 'official' limited edition (the AC15H1TVL - the'L' is for 'Limited')was restricted to 500 units and had an oil finished African Mahogany cabinet and a plate on the grille cloth noting the Anniversary. It was based on the original AC15 but added a few modern touches so it has EF86 and Top Boost channels and a few other tweaks.

At the same time, Vox introduced the AC151TV (without the 'L') which was basically the same amp but with a birch plywood cabinet covered in cream vinyl. Early models (I don't know how many) also had the commemorative plates but the run continued for three or four years and the later models didn't have it.

There was also a head and separate cabinet model and a similar range of AC30 units.

They are very nice amps indeed (I have one of the Limited Editions) and very rarely come on the market so if you've found one and fancy it then go for it.

Cheers.

Tony

Hi Tony, tnx for the info. I went to town and bought it. I came with a nice cover and yes its a mahogany cabinet. My friend bought the other model a few years back and I managed to get a hold Of Dave Robinson and he was kind enough to give me the settings for the old Shadows tunes. But I can't find them and there is so many knobs and switches I don't know where to start ha ha there is also two channels with two inputs on each wow! at my age this is quite a challenge. But the sound is great with me just plugging my strat in. Have a great day and thanks for the help. Scott

Yeah, I got a new Cream vinyl-covered version about five years ago. It's a great amp with that typical Vox tone from the old days. No free cover with mine,so I had one made.

Hi Scott

I'm glad you bought it and I know you'll enjoy it.

As regards settings, I use the EF86 channel most of the time with the guitar plugged intothe input nearest the front of the amp. Make sure the Pentode/Triode switch is set to Pentode. I've found that the Bass Shift switch makes very little difference to the sound but mine is set to Position 2. For vintage tones I have the Brilliance switch set to position 2 and adjust the Cut control to suit the tune (The Cut control affects the normal channel as well). I've also found that the Brilliance switch set to 'Off ' gives a great 'modern Hank' sound. I don't use the other channel very much but you can get a good Burns sound by turning the bass up to nearly max and bringing up the Treble until it starts to bit as per David Martin's recommendation.

Have fun.

Tony (Russet) - I forgot mention the cover. The'official' limited editions came with one but the others didn't.

Cheers.

Thanks Tony, I will give those settings s try this afternoon. I have a 64' vox super-twin and the sound of my new amp I think sounds better. the super-twin is in mint shape with original covers and It still has a few mullard tubes ha ha . I hardly used it. I bought it in McCormacks in Glasgow 50yrs ago and looks same as day I bought it. I wonder if that music store still exists?, it was a popular spot for musicians. Have a great day.
