Martin Guitars - article from local newspaper

Postby donna plasky » 18 Apr 2012, 21:37

If it would be of interest to anyone, here is a link to an article from my local newspaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, about the Martin Guitar factory located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania -- which I guess is about an hour away from my house. I never knew it was there. There is a little section in the article, with seven photos. Nothing extraordinary, just an article.

Kind regards,
Donna

Hi Donna. Thanks for that. Very interesting. I have got a Martin Backpacker for travelling - a very odd shape but good fun (the guitar, not me) - and more importantly an Eric Clapton 00028 which is a lovely guitar. It is a few years old now and unlike me gets better with age. Joan Baez played a Martin throughout her recent concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London which I was lucky enough to be at, and Paul Simon uses Martins (as well as other guitars). Neither mentioned in the list of users - probably not trendy enough!

Hi Donna,

Thanks for that. Without insulting Gibson in any way, in my view Martin guitars (especially at the top range) are the best in the world - I have four of them including a wonderful maple 12 string and limited edition D45. As already said, they get better with age and playing - you should hear my 1987 D45 !

I envy you living so close to the factory - must visit it.

All the best,

Nick
