Just back from the first post-lockdown meeting in Exeter. Good to see everyone again and enjoy some interesting material. Kudos to John who had commissioned special backing tracks from the McGarrick stable and gave us innovative performances of Elizabethan Serenade and The Radetzky March would you believe?
This was an unadvertised tryout meeting and well worth having done it. Plenty of Shads stuff of course and the band was in fine form as I arrived. Peter had a new drumkit for Christmas but had to wait until now to give it an outing. Good stuff. And young Joe played some very elegant Hanklike stuff, complete with the right, understated footwork. There is hope for the rising generation!
