Ben seems to think the original belongs to Hank, but I always understood it was bought and owned by Cliff.

My understanding is that Cliff bought it for, and gave it to, Hank, which makes it Hanks. But then the band got their rosewood neck Strats, so Hank decided to do the decent thing and gave it back to Cliff, so it's Cliffs. Now Bruce has it, so it seems to be Bruce's, but Ben wants it.

All of which means, I have no idea who actually owns it, but it's probably Cliff, or Hank, or maybe Bruce, but probably not Ben :D

So glad I bought my own guitars - keeps things nice and simple!

The guitar in the video is described as a 1958 model.

It is also said that Hank bought it in 1981 and used it for a few years.

That would mean that it is not 34346 but is the guitar bought by Hank in Paris from Patrice Bastien.

I understand that the original neck had a warp that could not easily be adjusted out (perhaps it could have been de-fretted, "shot" and re-fretted) and that Hank substituted a Giffen neck for the Fender item. The guitar appeared in that guise on the reworked artwork for Hank's album "All Alone With Friends" when it was released as a CD on the Pickwick label in 1991. It had been pictured in the artwork for the (vinyl) album "Words And Music" and the spin-off 45 single Don't Talk in 1982.

Assuming that the guitar in the video is the 1958 "Paris" Strat, It looks as though the neck has been changed again, this time for a Fender replacement (the grain doesn't look like that on the Giffen neck).

As for 34346, everyone knows Bruce has it and that includes Cliff and Hank, so I can’t imagine it’s a problem: more of a running gag.

I’m glad he has it because Bruce has been very kind letting many of us handle it.

That's certainly the case, it was in 1981 that Hank bought a 1958 Strat from Patrice Bastien in Paris.

In Cliff's latest book, published very recently he says it's his and he'd like it back...

Wonder where he would keep it - in Barbados or US? Gather he is no longer resident in the UK!

What type of person buys something as a gift for a friend, then wants it back?
I feel really lucky not to have friends like that. :|
