An hour of the Shadows

Sorting out some drawers over the weekend, I came across an old cassette I'd forgotten about.
An hour with the Shadows. A wonderful selection. Does anyone know if this was ever issued on CD?

Hi Norman,

Here are the notes I did for Jim's Facebook page on Shadows albums:-

An Hour Of The Shadows
The Cassette Was Issued With A Transparent Casing And A White Casing.
Hour Of The Shadows was listed in the EMI release sheets for June 1988 as a CD release on the “Compacts For Pleasure” label with the catalogue number CC210. It never appeared.

Best wishes

Paul

This was mentioned quite recently.

The "An Hour of..." cassettes originally came in quite a nice card case.

The cassette also includes the 1967 BBC session recording of Jigsaw...

Thanks Paul, looks like I will have to make a car playlist myself.

I think that's highly unlikely. To my knowledge, no BBC recording by The Shadows has ever been released before the 2010 LP and 2012 2CD Rollercoaster albums "Let Me Tell You Baby...It's Called Rock 'N' Roll!" and the 2018 album "Live At The BBC".

I ordered myself a copy on the strength of Bill's post, so when it comes - I'll let you know. Don't worry...it only set me back £4.19 (inc postage!). (I must have chucked my original copy away in one of my ~10-yearly clear-outs! I don't recall the version of Jigsaw being different to the standard LP version). I had the 'Top of the Pops' transcription disc on a bootleg cassette and, indeed, Hank and Bruce were both outstanding on it!!

There are several copies here. Just bought one (in its card outer box) for £3.99. I now vaguely remember this cassette from the time...

Like Ivo, I was sceptical when reading this 'nugget' of information which, in fact, comes from the PRS database. Out of curiosity I searched their audio products content for Hour Of The Shadows, to find an entry for the cassette album with the catalogue number HR 4181234. It lists 11 tracks on each side, side 1, track 6 credited as Jigsaw - BBC Live Session, although this could well prove to be inaccurate, mistakes and errors not exactly unknown in the system.

The chances are, I imagine, the track in question is the regular released version. Sorry, chaps, to have raised anyone's hopes if this proves to be the case!
