There's a big interview with Hank and Bruce in today's Daily Mail Weekend magazine. Just started reading it and already there is a huge revelation of which, prior to this, I was completely unaware!

I read it on line and can't find anything I hadn't already heard. One thing that did stand out was the journalists' lack of accuracy, which is why I don't and will never buy another newspaper. :|

Nothing new here!, just another release of familiar tracks.

Kindest regards,

So we all knew about Hank's prostrate cancer then?

No, I was unaware. I totally agree with the sentiment of not reading any more 'newspapers' from Dave Robinson though!

With a couple of possible exceptions, I'd be willing to bet that no-one here was aware of the bomb that Hank dropped regarding his health. Hank doesn't strike me as the sort of person who generally talks about such things. I certainly had heard no whisper about it and I know people who are closer to Hank than you might think. It was a revelation, as far as I was concerned. Just shocked, but also pleased to hear that all seems to be well. I'd be interested to know about these 'inaccuracies', as nothing leapt out at me as being particularly inaccurate. I was surprised, however, by the way Bruce talked about 'We Don't Talk Anymore', as he made no mention of Alan Tarney.

Anyway, it was a (generally) nice surprise and I had no idea that it was also available online. I wonder where the incentive came from as I wouldn't have expected news coverage of the release of the album. Good to see The Shads still getting column inches in the national press. It can do no harm.

At first, I thought it was confusing Hank with Bruce but rhen it mentioned it was six years ago.

I've just read the article/interviews again. Only two 'inaccuracies' leapt out at me... 1) It is stated that the Shadows last toured in 2004. To be fair, 'The Shadows' last toured in 2005 - if we don't include the 'Cliff Richard and the Shadows' tour - and that particular tour started in 2004. 2) 'These days Hank records albums with his group Gypsy Jazz'. Although his group is not actually called Gypsy Jazz, I suppose if it had read 'These days Hank records albums with his Gypsy Jazz group' then this would be true! I'm sure that's what they must have meant! OK, I'm being charitable but not a HUGE inaccuracy and true in a sense.

Just minor niggles, as far as I'm concerned. Not major inaccuracies. But I'd be interested in knowing if there are any more.

Here's the link to the article. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8934087/Why-christened-Cliff-Bachelor-Boy.html

Essentially it's a puff for the "Dreamcoats and Petticoats" compilation of Shadows' Polydor tracks. That's welcome, although there's nothing new in those unless you don't have them all.

Of greater interest, and not mentioned, is the other new release containing some tracks I certainly don't have. It's described in the thread about it: http://shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17613

There's a HUGE photo caption inaccuracy in that online version! Still, I suppose if you squint at the pic, John Rostill does look a little bit like Cliff !!!
