Thanks for the link. What I find astonishing is that it isn't a crime in Britain to make false underage sex accusations about somebody. In many other countries an accuser like that would be put behind bars.

That's not quite right.
I am not talking about the particular case because it is the policy of this site not to do so. However, in general terms, prison for a false accuser could happen here too.
Such accusations require careful and sensitive consideration. Where it is deemed that the accusation is false, “Wasting police time” and “Attempting to pervert the course of justice” are both criminal offences and a false accuser could be charged with either or both. Consideration is also currently being given to making it a "Hate crime."
