Wonder how the lads are coping with lockdown?

The clue is in the title.

Hope the fans, bedroom players, this site, Charlie Hall and Shadowmania etc get due recognition - some of this is unique to the Shads fan base I would have thought. The Times article in 2004 about the reunion has been the best to capture how much the Shads mean I think.

Many of these BBC4 music documentaries are not made by the BBC but by outside production companies.
I don't know about this one though.

Some of the non-BBC productions do come out on DVD, often as longer versions of the documentary as well.

From one of the first posts...

The Shadows At Sixty is produced by Spun Gold TV. Rory Robertson is the Production Executive for Spun Gold TV. It was commissioned for the BBC by Owen Courtney, Commissioning Executive, BBC Music TV.

BRILLIANT NEWS!!!!

Friday 1st May 2020 at 21:30

"THE SHADOWS AT SIXTY"
"A look back at the incredible success of The Shadows as they celebrate their 60th anniversary. Starting from where they began as The Drifters to then becoming the backing band for Cliff Richard and enjoying huge success in their own right, the programme celebrates The Shadows’ achievements across a time of constant change within the social, cultural and musical landscape.

The Shadows were at the forefront of the UK beat boom generation and the first backing group to emerge as big stars in their own right. Using unseen archive, personal testimony and interviews with the band, along with those they influenced, including Brian May, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, The Shadows at Sixty is not just a trip down memory lane, but an in-depth, often emotional story of a group’s journey through six decades."

Interesting that the actress Gina McKee is narrating the documentary. I have a belief that if MOST (if not all) of the subjects in the programme are male (and you are therefore going to be hearing a lot of male voices), then it's a good idea to balance that with a female voice doing the narration. I had already decided that, if I ever got to make MY Shadows documentary, then the narrator would be... Suzi Quatro! And, yes, I am serious. I think she'd have done it too... since she's a friend of Brian's, probably a friend of the others too and included a cover of 'Move It' on her first album.

Two weeks to go...
